Coming to you this week from Bucktown’s Presidio is a drink that plays off of an urban legend. The Hitchhiker, created by bartender Rachele Byrd-Townsell, is inspired by the classic urban legend. "This tale has existed globally since the advent of the motor car. A hitchhiker is picked up and dropped off – only for the driver to learn much later that the passenger was in fact a ghost.”
The whiskey-based cocktail features boba pearls smoked with Lapsang tea, along with house made coconut horchata and maple vanilla chai syrup. Rachele serves the drink with a thick boba straw and low-boy of the remaining cocktail.
Interested in trying to recreate it at home? Rachele was kind enough to send us the recipe! Let us know how you like it in the comments section below.
