Try The Board of Trade at The Florentine
The Florentine, located in the heart of Chicago, has a unique cocktail menu featuring drinks inspired by Chicago architecture and history. This sophisticated and elegant Italian dinning destination has a must try cocktail menu that is continuously being expanded. Sarah Landry, beverage director of The Florentine, has been the fantastic source of this relevant and ever expanding list of Chicago drinks.
Years ago, as Sarah took her first architectural tour down the Chicago river, she was intrigued by the massive and magnificent buildings that told the rich history of Chicago. More so, she was interested and wanted to learn more about the rich relationship and history of Chicago and fine spirits. This influential experience has lead Sarah to be able to expand The Florentine's drink menu to what it is today.
Due to the location of the restaurant, a hotel in the loop, she was able to draw from the architectural wonders that surrounded her for the names and inspiration of the drinks. For example, The Carbide and Carbon cocktail, which is topped off with champagne, is also named and inspired by the champagne bottle shaped building. Additionally, she pulls from the current season and visits her local farmers market for ingredient inspiration. This allows for a fresh and seasonal taste year round.
This beverage menu is perfect for a relaxing and fun evening or maybe for catching up with old friends. It has an elegant atmosphere with views from the main dinning room that allow you to connect the menu with the architecture and history of Chicago.
Sarah's Recommendation: "The Sazerac, a well balanced and boozy cocktail, that originated near where I grew up is my go-to. The New Orleans classic is delightful for sipping and catching up with friends; or unwinding from a long day at 'the office', both of which suit our guests."
