Soulful Sunday is a weekly dose of inspiration from busy Chicago women who still manage to stay balanced no matter what their career—or life—throws their way.
Soul Sister: Janet Mandell is a modern mama who morphed her love of fashion and family into a haute diaper bag line, Mia Bossi, that screams posh—not Pampers. The busy wife and mother also is a Chicago fashion icon and blogger for Fashionaholic. A woman who does it all, she still finds time for herself amidst all the chaos.
How She Unwinds:
"I like to wind down at the end of the day with food! I always give in to my sweet tooth and go to Dinkels to get their cupcakes—they are moist, traditional, and simply amazing. I also like to sip on pinot grigio by Santa Margherita when things get really crazy. My perfect way to end a day would be with my husband on our back deck with a cold, crisp glass of wine on a warm (humidity-free) summer night.
"Also, every night—no matter how late—I stick to my skincare routine by washing and exfoliating with my favorite products from Dermalogica. I also love to decompress with a warm jacuzzi bath, complete with salts, essential oils and music.
"Since a big part of my life is fashion, I find it almost therapeutic to organize and de-clutter my closet. During the warmer months I love planting flowers and spending my time in my garden."
"Don't dwell on the negative things that are happening in your life. Always stay positive, and if you want something, just go for it! It's hard to balance everything in life, but if you are positive, everything comes naturally."
