Soulful Sunday is a weekly dose of inspiration from busy Chicago women who still manage to stay balanced no matter what their career—or life—throws their way.
Soul Sister: Kelly Golden, proprietor, Neopolitan Collection
Kelly Golden is the force behind Neapolitan, one of the most elite privately owned boutiques in the Chicago area, which has been catering to a jet-set clientele for over a decade. The clotheshorse brings runway inspiration from designers like Gucci, Derek Lam, and Bottega Veneta to her 4,200-square-foot space on the North Shore.
Leveraging her MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and her passion for luxury fashion, Kelly combined her business know-how and style sense to create the ultimate shopping experience. Neapolitan Collection opened with much praise and fanfare in 2003, immediately developing a loyal following for Kelly’s keen fashion eye and for her team’s vast knowledge about style and fit while delivering first-class customer service.
How she unwinds: "Since we are all so connected today by phone, text, email, etc., a great way for me to unwind (besides a nice glass of wine at the end of the day) is paddle boarding. Heading out into the middle of Lake Michigan with no phone, no computer, no noise.... disappearing for an hour can be quite therapeutic!"
Balance tip: Balancing work, life, and family is a constant battle for everyone. You realize just how valuable time is and the importance of making every second count. It comes down to not how much time you have for everyone, but being 100 percent present in the moments you do have."
