Soulful Sunday is a weekly dose of inspiration from busy Chicago women who still manage to stay balanced no matter what their career—or life—throws their way.
Soul sister: Michelle Forst, Senior Stylist at George the Salon
Full disclosure: We've had our manes managed by Forst, so we speak from experience when we say she's amazing. Not only is she good at her craft, but she's a down-to-earth sweetheart to boot.
The seasoned stylist works at the gorgeous new George the Salon on Rush Street in the Gold Coast six days a week, so when Sunday rolls around, she definitely has R&R on the brain.
How she unwinds:
"My favorite thing to do on a Sunday after a long work week is to get up and workout. It helps me to relax and think about how well the week went and how I can improve for the next week. My fiancé and I also love to check out different breakfast spots in the city. We enjoy going to a local spot next to where we live called the Breakfast Club on Hubbard Street. Going to the beach is my favorite place to unwind. Being at the beach forces me to do nothing and enjoy relaxing; followed by a glass of wine later on!"
"It is really important to live a balanced life, but it takes a lot of time and practice. I have been a stylist for nine years, and it still seems like I travel with my scissors, because I just love doing hair! I have learned to enjoy the time I have off finally, because you never know what life can throw at you. I learned to really spend time with people that love and care about me, without being on my phone and feeling distracted. I try my best to have a good workout routine and a balanced diet. I look forward to splurging once or twice a month with my mom's Sunday dinners! Paint your own picture. Wake up everyday knowing that it is 'great to be alive.' Love yourself and your life."
