Tameka Walton NOMINATED BY Angeline Thompson
Tameka is a selfless woman who gives hugs to others although she's often in need of one. She self-funded an organization called Restored Hope, whose primary focus is to relieve the pressure of other single mothers who are struggling while providing after school programs to young girls on the south and west sides of the city. She's a single mom of 3, but that doesn’t stop her- she says motherhood is her ministry and as long as she has breath (she's also a yoga teacher) she will support other moms and help them to be present in the lives of their children and community.
Janette Jara NOMINATED BY CHARLOTTE BERLIN
Janette Jara is the hostess at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago's restaurant, Allium. She has held this position for four years.
In addition to working full-time, she has three children (ages 6, 8 & 12), who she raises alone. While managing ALL of this, Janette finds time to volunteer and stay involved in the community. She is a member of the Hermosa Neighborhood Association and Hermosa Park Advisory Council. She is also a volunteer for Legacy Leaders. And, if she still can't find enough to do, Janette can be found at the Alderman's office volunteering.
You would never know that Janette has such a hectic schedule. She always has a smile on her face, and is energetic and engaging with guests. She is a dedicated and hard-working employee!
Lourdes Nieto NOMINATED BY Victoria Perez
Lourdes is a police officer and a tireless anti-human trafficking advocate.
She does so much for so many from mentoring and being a source of community for victims of human trafficking, raising awareness about human trafficking in the neighborhood of Pilsen, teaching human trafficking classes at the Academy on her days off and recently joining Compass to Care Childhood Cancer Foundation's Fashion Show committee to helping organize a fundraising fashion show to help kids living with cancer,
She always believed that she should make time for her appearance on her off days, since she spent 8 hours a day in uniform. In last two years, it seems more often than not that she’s given up on what she used to refer to as “my time to pamper and look good for myself” routine.
Winners will receive a skincare consultation by Dr. Stacie McClane MD, skin care regimen by FACELIFT SKINCARE, teeth whitening by Dr. Tiffany Jozwiak of Oz Park Family Dental, a wardrobe makeover by Fashion Outlets of Chicago and a personal fitness makeover by celebrity fitness expert Andrea Metcalf with Pure Barre, and Hang5Fitness.
