Rochelle Trotter and Emeril Lagasse
Friends and admirers of the late chef Charlie Trotter recently gathered to celebrate his life at a luncheon in his honor. Hosted by Trotter’s close friend, chef Emeril Lagasse, the event was sponsored by Bon Appetit presents Chicago Gourmet and Charlie Trotter’s Culinary Education Foundation (CTCEF). Lagasse and Trotter’s wife, Rochelle Trotter—who also serves as Executive Director of CTCEF—were at the helm of the foundation's only large-scale fundraising event of the year. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel served as honorary co-chair of the luncheon.

Guests were treated to a world-class, four-course meal created by Lagasse, with each course complemented with a wine pairing. Attendees also got a sneak peek at Lagasse’s new cookbook, Essential Emeril: Favorite Recipes and Hard-Won Wisdom from My Life in the Kitchen, which is dedicated to Trotter. Proceeds from the event will benefit CTCEF, which awards scholarships to budding chefs and works with various cultural and educational programs.
