April 11: Cubs Home Opener
The Chicago Cubs kick off their 100th season at Wrigley Field on April 11, with a 6-game homestand against the Cincinnati Reds. And while the landscape of Wrigley is in the midst of a serious construction overhaul, we still think it's worth dodging the bulldozers to score a great seat for the game on Wrigleyville's famous Clark St. strip. This tried and guide on where to go holds up today as much as it did when it was published.
May 14-15: Handmade Chicago Fair
One of the best parts of spring in Chicago is the stream of shopping festivals and crafts fairs that pop up all over the city. One of the best of the bunch, specializing in handmade goods from local artisans is Handmade Chicago. Brimming with creative gifts, home goods, and decor, the fest is nestled within the unique and edgy West Loop community, the perfect backdrop of inspiration when shopping for a new spring look.
May 20-22: Mayfest in Lincoln Square
If you're not shopping at slew of festivals in the city, you're definitely eating and drinking! Food fest season kicks off with Mayfest in Lakeview, one of the northside neighborhood's favorite days of the year. This year marks the 21st year, and will feature all the favorite foods, music, and beer garden specials, as well as a family-friendly Chicago Kids Day on May 21.
June 1: Saved by the Max: Saved by the Bell Pop-Up Diner
Social media has been buzzing for moths over this sitcom-inspired pop up, thanks to a Facebook invite that landed on the scene back in January. According to the invite, the titled "SAVED BY THE MAX" space (location still TBD) will be "custom detailed to replicate the gangs favorite hangout, The Max." What 80's or 90's baby wouldn't love a chance to step inside a life-sized replica of their favorite TV hangout (next to The Peach Pit, that is). Check out the Facebook invite here, then grab your Zack or AC and get ready to party!
