Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade
Saturday March 11th, 12 p.m.
Come take part in one of the world's greatest St. Patrick's Day celebrations! After the Chicago River is dyed green, join the parade as it makes its way through Grant Park. Revel in the bagpipes, Irish dancers and drum corps, a homage to the Irish sure to wake up the entire city.
One Earth Film Festival
Friday March 10th, Saturday March 11th, Sunday March 12th
This film festival is dedicated to showcasing acclaimed environmental films to promote awareness and understanding. 30 films will be shown in 39 different venues, such as universities, churches, museums and movie theaters. Films include "Chicago's True Nature," which explores the vast biodiversity of Cook County's forest preserves, and "Before the Flood," a National Geographic film that follows Leonardo DiCaprio as he travels around the world to witness climate change.
Leprechaun Leap 5k/8k Run
Saturday March 11th, 9:30 a.m.
This Saturday, lace up your running shoes and hit the trails for the 16th annual Leprechaun Leap. But forget your usual boring workout clothes, use your imagination, and grab your best green clothing or Irish-themed costume! There will be awards handed out for the best dressed runners. All participants will receive an event shirt and are invited to the post-run party at Select Steak House. See here for more information and to register.
Hyde Park Handmade Artisan Bazaar and Farmer's Market at The Promontory
Sunday March 12th, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Head to The Promontory restaurant's indoor music venue and check out the Hyde Park Handmade Bazaar, where there will be dozens of neighborhood artisan food and craft makers present. Vendors include Mohop, Dousèr Pastries and Breads, and Tanzen Lilly Jewelry and Fine Art. Admission is free, the bar is open, and guests can enjoy tunes spun by DJ Sean Alvarez as they shop around.
