For the past 40 years, Fredman Design Group has been known for its client-centric approach to designing boutique environments, to include the Chopping Block, the lobby of the Millennium Centre at 33 W. Ontario and residential design that spans city living, historic preservation, retreat homes and outdoor respites.
Now, the award-winning Chicago- and Michigan-based design firm has a new feather in its proverbial cap: the recent appointment of Terri Crittenden as Chief Executive Officer, proceeding the role of founder Susan Fredman who is stepping away from the day-to-day management of the company to focus on specific projects and speaking engagements.
Under Crittenden’s leadership, the firm is actively building a culture of collaboration that embraces the expertise and inspiration of the talent on staff. The power of design is a central part of the future of the Fredman brand. Crittenden has partnered with a local branding and design agency to ensure Fredman’s messaging and visual identity reflect this. The new messaging focuses on transforming lives by designing spaces with soul.
Along with her dedication to holistic design, Crittenden has plans to expand Fredman Design Group’s reach to include commercial design. She brings with her experience that spans from office spaces and medical facilities to spa and wellness centers. “Design is so much more than decoration. It’s how we personalize and enrich aspects of the every day,” said Crittenden. “At Fredman, we start with a client’s vision as a background and translate that into a thoughtful space that is firmly rooted in a story. We’re storytellers, and that’s what I want Fredman Design Group to stand for moving forward.”
