Earlier last month, gynecological cancer charity Eve Appeal released a study finding that two thirds of women could not identify their vulva. The sad truth is that women know more about the male anatomy than they do of their own. Guardian US data editor Mona Chalabi and video producer Mae Ryan have created Vagina Dispatches, a four-part video series that explores critical topics around vulvas and vaginas because, let's face it, we should know more about our bodies. Together, Mona and Mae talk to a gynecologist, a labiaplasty surgeon (yes, that's a thing) and a trans woman, learning about what "normal" down there means and how vulvas are somewhat like snowflakes, no two are quite a like.
Please note this video contains content true to the nature of the topic and showcases accurate anatomical images.
Want to test your own knowledge of the female body? Guardian US has created an interactive quiz: Vagina 101 that you can participate in.
